The latest addition to the famous Kentucky distillery’s bi-annual high-end bottlings continues with a ‘chocolate malted rye’ bourbon. 70% corn, 15% malted rye and 15% distillers malt make up the mash bill, but the key point of difference here is that the rye has been toasted long enough to make it taste like chocolate. Said Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Chris Morris, “The rye malt was roasted to a level that its natural sugars caramelized into a dark chocolate note. This special bourbon even surprised me as it matured in our warehouses. Each time I tasted it, the chocolate notes became even more pronounced.”
